The Quetico Chatterton falls trip will take you deep into the park. You will paddle / portage the historic Deux Rivieres portage as you head south to Russell lake. The highlight of the trip is found at the southern end of Russell lake. The Chatterton falls is made up of several smaller falls. The outflow of the falls is a great place to take a break, swim or even try your hand at fishing.
If time and energy permits, an optional day trip to visit Split Rock falls on McDougall lake would be interesting. Continue onto to Keats lake to view Snake falls and the falls at the “Have a smoke portage”
The return to Stanton lake is a bit “rugged” as it carries you over the “Staircase portage” into Sturgeon lake. You will paddle Lonley lake ,Walter Lake, Elizabeth lake and Jesse lake with it’s multitude of islands. Eventually, you will paddle east on the Pickerel Narrows towards Pickerel lake and your shuttle pickup at Stanton Bay. Optionally you can return backtrack the route you followed in. A Quetico canoe trip that you will remember for a lifetime.
